Trade your basement for ours — because gaming’s better together.
My love of technology started early — way back in the 1980s with a Commodore 64. While other kids were outside, I was fascinated by what computers could do, what games could become, and what the next piece of tech might unlock. That curiosity never really went away. It just got more expensive.
As I grew up and finally had my own apartment, that love turned into something social. We hosted regular gaming nights in the basement — the kind where any new piece of tech was immediately tested, no matter how strange it was. That included a truly bizarre early golf simulator called Real World Golf, which required wearing oversized gloves with rubber bands attached to a floor unit that kind of understood what a golf swing was. It didn’t matter if it was perfect — it mattered that it was new, weird, and fun.
Those nights stretched late into the evening with intense rounds of 007 GoldenEye, Call of Duty, and relentless attempts to beat our classic arcade high scores on games like Dig Dug and 1943. We also spent countless hours around the table playing Axis & Allies and other board games, arguing over strategy, alliances, and whose turn it actually was. The basement wasn’t just a room — it was where friends gathered, laughed, competed, and escaped reality for a while. Without realizing it at the time, that basement became the blueprint.
We’ve lived in Port Washington for over 20 years — my wife, our son, and I — and recently our son, who attends Port High, got his driver’s license. Like most concerned parents, we always ask, “Where are you going?” The honest answer? Culver’s… or Walmart. That’s when it hit us. Port Washington needed more places to go. More experiences. More reasons for people to hang out, laugh, and do something memorable together.
So… who’s invited? Everyone. During our soft opening, we had ages ranging from 7 to 80 years old, and every single one of them had a blast. VR turns out to be incredibly easy and surprisingly fun — whether you’re playing with high school friends, grade school kids, families, grandparents, or old friends catching up. And the best part? When the goggles come off, people are always laughing, smiling, and immediately asking, “Okay… what do we play next?”
At the heart of this experience is a simple goal: helping the Port Washington community grow. This project has been completely self-funded, built by Port Washington residents who genuinely love this town and believe it deserves something fun, modern, and unique. We also offer the ability to rent out the entire basement for your next VR party, board game night, or even a casual “let’s just get together and have fun” night filled with retro classics and immersive VR experiences. We’re incredibly excited to create a new attraction that brings people together, supports the community, and gives Port Washington another reason to be proud of where they live.
